Buttered Mash Turnips

A simple way to prepare turnips that can easily be tweaked adding different herbs/spices.


1 lb Turnips, quartered

1 tablespoon course Salt

2-3 tablespoons Butter

Different herbs/spices, rosemary/sage/mint/garlic (optional)



Melt 1/2 the butter in pan.

Add turnips and salt, cover and cook on medium heat until tender, 5-7minutes.

If they begin to brown, turn heat down slightly.

Place turnips in bowl and add rest of butter.

Mash with potato masher. Add herbs/spices if using
